Who is bookboy?

Also answering to Jonathan, or “Look mummy, it’s the library man”, I am a youth services librarian in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia.

Bookboy.net is a place to write my responses to the children’s and young adult books I am reading. They tend to reflect more of my reaction to the books, rather than a scholarly discussion of the thematic tendencies of the literature to espouse the benefits of multiple syllable communications. I also tend to post bits and pieces of news about children’s and YA books, and what I refer to as “library happenings”.

I try to read a broad range of books within these areas but I have preferences that will probably show through. I am human after all.

PS. By way of disclosure, you may have noticed that the LibraryThing widget in the sidebar and some cover images in posts take you to Amazon. If you follow these links and buy something, I get a small percentage of the sale through Amazon’s affiliate program. If you are going to buy a book from Amazon anyway and want to help me cover my hosting costs, then go ahead and buy that way. If you would rather support your local independent bookseller, then please do that. Or buy from one of the big chains. Or just borrow the book from your local library. Whatever floats your boat. On the other hand, if you want to follow one of my links to Amazon and then buy something really big, like a refrigerator or plasma TV, then please be my guest.
